A memory box is ideal for any occasion, encapsulating special moments from the day, whether this be a wedding, christening, birth, or other family event. However, some people choose a memory box dedicated to a person, rather than an event. This could be chosen for yourself, or given as the ideal gift for someone. They could be personalised and dedicated in any way you wish, including perhaps a special message or design

.

Having selected the material, colour and design of the box, you should think about how you wish it to be personalised, for example, with names, dates or photographs. Many people choose a box in which they can keep all their memories of motherhood, these may include special pictures their children have done, special messages they wrote, things they made, a little favourite outfit they wore, their first curl or teeth, hospital bracelets and cards you received. Many dads appreciate these as gifts from their children, ideal when you can not decide on a special gift.

People often choose them as baby boxes, which you can choose in a variety of colours, including traditional pink and blue. These can be used for birth cards, christening cards and special photographs and anything significant from their early years. Simply, a box dedicated to a child, can be the ideal place to keep all those little treasures you do not want to be mislaid.

A memory box could also be chosen to dedicate to a bereavement. Given to children who lose a parent, or close relative, can often be important for them in later life as a reminder and just something personal for them to keep. Dedicated to a child or baby, they can be filled with treasured mementos. Similarly, they can be chosen to dedicate to parents, partners, close friends or pets. Deciding what to keep inside the box is an entirely individual choice.

Whether your memory box is chosen for a specific event or individual, for yourself or someone else, it is the ideal place to store your special treasured memories. Beautifully designed, they can be a feature in your home, accessible to share with friends and guests, or when you want to spend some quiet time reminiscing.

Designed in rustic, natural pine, white, pink, dark blue and light blue with embellishments of your choice, these keepsake boxes are the perfect way to order and display all your treasured memories.

Every generation loses something of the past. It is quite common for older generations to have hardly any keepsakes of their parents or children. It was not traditionally a custom to keep all these treasured trinkets and memories. People often have an odd photograph of their parents, and perhaps more of their children. However in older generations saving first teeth, curls, hospital bracelets, first outfits and favourite cuddly toys, was not always what people did. Later in life it becomes difficult to remember the time your children were born and show them anything from their first years and answer questions they may have.

It is always a nice feeling of identity to have personal things from your childhood. These memories can be later passed on down the family and kept by the next generation. It is always lovely to look at family photographs and resemblances. Also for children who are perhaps adopted or do not have family roots for whatever reason, having a baby keepsake box can help with their feeling of personal identity throughout their life, by having keepsakes from their own childhood.

Choosing colours and personalising your baby keepsake box is entirely based on individual choice. It can be a perfect gift bought by parents, Godparents, family and friends. You may wish to select a box yourself as a special gift for your own baby. It is ideal to keep all your treasures together to avoid being misplaced. Deciding what to place in the box can again be specific to what is important for you to keep. Having a baby is always a busy time, looking back in years to come at those first hand and foot prints, photographs, newspaper articles from the time, teddies and little outfits will be the perfect reminder of those years giving you lots of nostalgic moments.

Bereavement, whether expected or sudden, is one of the most difficult and distressing experiences to comprehend. Whether it is a close relative or friend, or somebody you do not know quite as well, the succession of feelings that follow can vary enormously for each individual.

A progression from the initial shock and stunned feelings, are often quickly succeeded by the need to inform friends and relatives and the practical arrangements of the funeral and gathering afterwards. This in itself can be distressing, exhausting, and very upsetting. Some people choose to visit their loved one before the funeral or memorial service, which may help in some way towards acceptance of the reality of what has happened. The turmoil of events leading to the funeral, can often transpire into the realisation of finality. It is usually following the funeral that most people start to grieve properly. A wide spectrum of emotions can range from anger, guilt, yearning, relief, sadness and depression.

Different communities and religions deal with death very differently, in both the grieving process and perception of an after life. Some believe in a continuous cycle of life, heaven and reincarnation. Others see death as final, the end of life. Some believe in a fixed period of mourning, for others this can be a process which takes years, or even lasts a lifetime.

It is during this period of time, however long that may last , that comfort, understanding and often practical help from friends and family is often needed. It may be some people mourn silently, others may wish to talk about their feelings and emotions.

Bereavement for most people is something that affects their life at some time or another. As time moves on, thinking about the future can be another hurdle which can host another range of emotions, such as guilt or loneliness.

The upset of bereavement is often founded not only from the loss, but timeless treasured memories, which you may wish to keep in a special place. The memories you keep in your mind are always special and often the most important, but in time you may fear these will fade. People usually decide to keep things sentimental to them as a reminder of their loved one. Where to keep these can be a difficult decision and may change over time.

A bereavement memory box can be the perfect place to keep some of your special memories. Whilst you may wish to display photographs of your loved one, there will be other treasured memories or belongings you wish to keep in a more private, personal place. Throughout the grieving process, you can spend time in the comfort that your treasured memories are placed in a beautifully designed memory box, entirely of your personal choice.

Deciding what to keep in the box is a very personal choice and depends on what is important to each individual. For babies or children this may be photographs, hospital bracelets, first curls and teeth, cards or special gifts they received, a little favourite outfit, or simply just a letter you wrote to them to explain your feelings and grief. For partners, husbands and wives, it may be photographs, anniversary cards and gifts, letters, jewellery, or wedding mementos, It could also be just something personal of theirs, such as a favourite CD, hat or watch. Similarly for parents or special friends it may be photographs, memories of a special place you visited, cards or gifts.

The bereavement memory box you choose can be personalised and chosen from a range of materials and colours. You may decide a picture frame beneath the lid is perfect for a special photograph, or indeed a picture of your loved one on the box itself. Sometimes there are no words, no explanation, a memory box is a special place to keep special memories, not only in your heart, but there throughout your life.

Every woman dreams about her wedding day, and when planning the event there are so many things to arrange, the flowers, the dress, the venue. Your wedding day should be one of the most memorable ever and despite all the hard planning you will ultimately enjoy the day. Many people have no idea how they can keep track of their wedding journey, and what to do with all the wedding memorabilia after the day. Some people choose memory books and photo albums, but these are impractical to use for the larger items, such as your tiara or garter, other people just pack their mementos into cardboard boxes and pack them away in the loft, which is perhaps not the best way to remember one of the most important days of your life. So if photo albums are not practical and you want something more special than a cardboard box, the ideal solution for storing all your special memories is in a wedding keepsake box.

A high quality wedding box, beautifully decorated or personalised is a great keepsake. If you have large or small trinkets, a wedding box is perfect, they come in a variety of sizes and shapes. These perfectly designed boxes can become a decorative piece in your house, so you can share your wedding memories with visitors, family and friends.

Some people also give a wedding box, or wedding box gift voucher, as a wedding present, this can be already filled with keepsakes from the planning or from the big day. Just think how much the happy newly married couple would appreciate a beautiful wedding box, which contains all the keepsakes from the wedding day and the planning of the occasion. Bridesmaids and Grooms-men are also perfect people to receive a wedding box for their participation in the event. A small hand crafted wedding box would make the perfect gift for them, they could use it for their own keepsakes from the day, or you could place a small gift inside it.

Decorations, colours and the type of wood are all things to consider when ordering a wedding box. You may just want your names and dates on the top of a wedding box, keeping it very simple and classic, for a more contemporary option or if you order the memory box after the event, you may wish to have photographs printed on the front. You can customise your wedding keepsake box in any way you like, it could coordinate with your home furnishings and décor or match your wedding themes and colours. It can be kept as a life long keepsake which you can pass down from generation to generation as a special memory of your perfect day.

Everyone’s life contains pinnacle moments and important events, from the day you are born, to your graduation or wedding day and the birth of your children. The perfect place for your keepsakes, trinkets and memories, enables you to record and capture each treasured moment and avoid losing any of these sentimental items. The ideal choice would be keeping them in a personalised memory box.

Determining what occasion and who the memory box is for, is the first consideration, this could be for a friend, family member or yourself. The memory box you choose is a very individual and personal choice. Many people use memory boxes for numerous different things, some people like to dedicate them to a person, or a special event, whereas others will have one memory box to keep general sentimental mementos from their entire life. A memory box as the ideal gift, whether it is for a friend to save all their treasured wedding memories, or whether you make one for your child to record the early years of their life. Whatever the occasion and whoever it is dedicated to, the style and design of the box and the contents are of entirely personal and individual choice.

Before placing an order for the box, you should consider what style of box you want and what size it should be. Memory boxes come in different shapes and sizes and are made out of a variety of materials. If you are wanting to buy a really special memory box, you should definitely consider a wooden box, oak boxes for example are excellent quality and last a lifetime. You can choose what type of wood and finish you want and whether you want it varnished or painted. Memory boxes look beautiful in a variety of finishes, plain, varnished, or painted . All very individual in style, the ultimate choice is your own. When it comes to additional decoration on your memory box, there options are versatile and endless. A box personalised with text, a brass plate, or even a photograph will always look amazing. If you are making a gift, a personalised memory box is great for any occasion.

Having determined how the memory box will be decorated and what occasion it is intended for, you can order it and then spend time considering the contents. Essentially, you may use it for any of your sentimental belongings, just begin to fill up your memory box with trinkets from any occasion, or wrap the memory box up and give it away as a gift. You can put whatever you like in the box, but it is often best to choose items with significance that remind you of an event or person, such as photographs, ornaments and trinkets. It is ideal for personal and miscellaneous sentimental items such as baby’s hospital bracelets, first curl or teeth, your wedding garter, memorabilia from a special place you visited, special letters or cards you have received, or any special reminders that encapsulate a special event or moment.

Have you been asked to be the Godparent at a Greek Christening or Baptism and wondering what your role will be, then the information below gives you an idea of your responsibilities and the items the Godparent needs to take to the church.

There are a number of important days in the life of a Greek Orthodox Christian and the baptism (from the Greek word baptizo – to dip, immerse) is one of them. The baptism or christening normally occurs during the first year of a baby’s life after the forty days blessing.

Although all baptism’s are very similar, the Greek Baptism is divided into two parts.

1) The service of the Catachumen when the Godparent speaks on behalf of the child and denounces Satan and recites the Creed.

2) The Baptismal rite when the baby is immersed in the font three times representing the three days that Christ spent in his tomb (in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit)

The Godparent is responsible for taking a number of items to the church in a Greek Baptism Box:-

List of items that the Godparent should take to the church in a box for a Greek Christening or Baptism ………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….

1 x Large White Towel (for use by the godparent and priest to wipe their hands after the baptism)

1 x Small White Towel (to wrap the baby in)

1 x Small Bottle of Olive Oil (The Priest pours this into the baptismal water)

1 x large white oil sheet (To wrap the baby in – used with the towel)

1 x Bar of Soap (for the Godparent and Priest to wash their hands)

We have had so many lovely testimonials from customers who have received our baby keepsake boxes, we would now like to expand this range to include painted 3D wood embellishments on the lid of the box or on the front to replace the whimsical design. Our aim is still to personalise the baby keepsake boxes in different colours. If you are browsing our site looking for a keepsake box for your baby, please let us know what you would like and we will try to include these designs within the next few weeks.

We offer a wide range of Baby Keepsake Boxes and Baby Keepsake Box Gift Sets including rustic and natural pine, oak, white, pink, light blue and dark blue and these would compliment our current range

We would like to offer various colours for the wooden embellishments to compliment the colour of the boxes – White boxes will be suitable for multicoloured, silver grey, purple, pink, blue, lime green, gold, yellow, black, royal blue. Blue keepsake boxes will be suitable for a darker blue, white, multicoloured. Pink boxes would look lovely with white wood 3D embellishments and darker pink, purple or violet.

We also get requests for slightly smaller baby keepsake boxes and we are looking at supplying a smaller box in other colours. Ivory, Lilac and Lemon seem to be very popular colours and we will also keep the white, pink and blue, the colour range is ideal for a boy or a girl or, if the baby has not been born, good unisex colours to suit everyone.

Suggestions from our customers already include:-

For baby girls: Fairies, Ballerina, Butterflies

For baby boys: Dinosaurs, Cars, Frogs

For Unisex: No suggestions yet

Baby keepsake boxes make a very personal and unusual Christening or Baptism Gift from Godparents or a family friend, although, if you are unlucky enough not to receive one as a present, why not treat yourself to one for you to store all babys’ memories.

I have been reading a number of news articles lately of Care Homes who are helping residents with dementia to recall the years of their life by collecting memorabilia in a memory box of their lives The past defines who we are and if people with dementia are prompted to recall their past it could help them keep their identity.

Everybody forgets sometimes although the older we get the more we forget. It gets more and more difficult to retain information, especialy the boring and trivial stuff. The important events or special moments tend to stay with us for our life.

Memory deteriorates with ages and if memory loss escalates quickly it is often an early sign of dementia. Although their of many forms of dementia we all recognise Alzheimer’s Desease as the one form which is affecting our elderly the most. Over the age of 65 the risk of developing dementia increases dramatically, with one in five people over 82 have dementia.

Memory Boxes help to stimulate the mind, triggering good emotions and improve the quality of life for the elderly residents in the residential care homes. I helps to bring people together and encourages talk and questions which, in turn, makes for an enjoyable social experience.

Many of our elderly have lived through the second world war and they could probably write a book about their life and, sharing these experiences with their other residents, can help people to know and understand each other better, resulting in a calmer and pleasant atmosphere.

Many of our customers who have purchased a Baby Bereavement Memory Boxes have asked for a baby quotes, verses, poems or sayings to go on the lid of the white, pink or blue boxes so we thought it would be a nice idea to give you some examples here. If you are going through the pain of having lost a small baby due to stillbirth, SIDS, Miscarriage or for any other reason, the following baby quotes, verses, poems and sayings are lovely examples to include on your memory box or a headstone.

“An angel wrote in the Book of Life

The date of our baby’s birth

And whispered as she closed the book

“Too Beautiful for Earth”

This lovely poem was written Anonimously

“The little one we long for
Was swiftly here and gone.
But the love that was then planted
Is a light that still shines on.
And though our arms are empty,
Our hearts know what to do.
Every beating of our hearts
Says that we do love you.”

“We will always love you
for forever and a day
you were the meaning in our life
and precious you will stay.”

‘A little flower lent not given

To bud on earth and bloom in heaven”

“Sleep my beautiful angel on your pillow in the sky
Angels are forever so we’ll never say goodbye”

Like a beautiful flower you had come into our lives giving us joy unspeakable,

uncompared–but for such a short time, you stayed here with us

hardly long enough for our love to share

but as the rosebud which fails to bloom, is replaced to make room, so has God taken you back home

but there’s a place heaven above, where all flowers bloom again

in a garden which encircles God’s throne

In the garden that grows near God’s heavenly throne, a precious flower blooms we claim as our own

you brought us joy for awhile, through our tears made us smile, one day we’ll meet in God’s Garden again

Now you’re a rose in full bloom and we’ll meet again soon

in the garden which grows near God’s throne.
